I live in a small town in the state of Massachusetts – though I’ve often wished I lived elsewhere. I received my BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and went on to get a Master’s in Arts and Education from Tufts University. I’m currently a candidate in the MFA in Visual and Literary Arts program at Lesley University.
Through writing and illustration, I create worlds where cruelty is met with swift and bloody ends, magic is at the very fringes of every feeling, food, and invention, and beauty is easily felt as it is seen. Everyone is extraordinary, everyone has a chance to start over, and no one has time for moral ambiguity.
In my studio practice, I love the creaminess of a soft colored pencil, the grain left behind by the old bristles of a paint brush, and the lushness of a fully colored page, saturated with colors and patterns. In my writing, I find excuses to use words like “lush” and reasons to kill off characters that resemble those I take umbrage within my personal life. I love power of storytelling and relish the ability to build worlds through images and words on a page.
